Alum is an excellent natural deodorant which neutralises perspiration and prevents the bacterial growth which causes bad odours. Hypoallergenic and odourless, it is applied directly to slightly moistened skin. Najel’s Alum Stone will last about one year, the equivalent of a dozen traditional deodorants. Hydrated alumina is a stable form of aluminium which does not bind to the skin and has no risk of transfer into the bloodstream. It is removed through perspiration or when showering and, being chemically inert (no chemical reaction), will not release aluminium, in contrast to hydrates of aluminium chloride as found in some deodorants.
